THE
1999
CHRISTMAS
LETTER
Well,
another
millennium,
if
you
have
seen
one
you
have
seen
them
all!
This
year
has
gone
by
so
quickly
that
we
may
have
been
in
a
time
machine.
It
was
a
marvelous
year.
In
February,
Jason,
Sarah
and
Fede
and
some
of
their
friends
came
to
Virginia
and
spent
some
time
with
us
on
the
way
to
skiing
in
Maryland.
After
skiing,
Joe
joined
them
and
they
took
a
trip
to
New
York
City
to
see
the
Broadway
show,
”Cats”
and,
of
course,
to
venture
to
the
top
of
the
World
Trade
Towers.
The
trip
was
great,
we
took
the
train
from
Washington,
DC
to
NYNY
and
Jason
and
Clay
had
a
ball
trying
to
sell
their
new
concept,
the
“sneaky
leaker”.
You
will
have
to
ask
Jason
to
explain.
Christina
graduated
from
Lee
High
School
in
June
where
she
won
the
Outstanding
Student
Leader
Award,
which
was
quite
an
honor.
Also
in
June,
Angela
finished
her
sophomore
year
at
James
Madison
University
where
she
is
majoring
in
Integrated
Science
and
Technology.
She
landed
a
great
Intern
job
over
the
summer
working
with
computers
for
a
Washington,
DC
consultant
firm.
In
July,
we
(Joe
and
Greta)
took
an
exciting
trip
to
Europe.
Of
course,
we
had
a
good
reason
for
going.
Christina
was
playing
her
cello
for
a
select
orchestra
from
the
East
Coast
on
a
tour
of
Europe,
so
we
went
over
to
watch
them
perform.
We
went
to
Switzerland
first
and
then
traveled
to
Austria,
Germany
and
France.
Greta
had
a
client
to
see
in
Switzerland,
so
we
spent
a
day
on
business
there.
Lucerne,
Switzerland
was
our
favorite
place.
We
stayed
at
a
peaceful
bed
and
breakfast
beside
Lake
Lucerne,
which
had
breath-taking
views.
We
were
lucky
enough
to
see
several
of
Christina’s
performances
in
Germany.
Our
last
two
days
were
spent
in
Paris.
Although
the
weather
was
not
very
accommodating,
we
did
get
to
see
much
of
the
city
including
a
walk
along
the
Seine
River
and
sharing
dinner
with
a
friend
who
lives
there.
In
August,
the
family
took
a
vacation
trip
to
the
Outer
Banks,
North
Carolina.
Momma
Mildred
Miller
and
Twin
Sister
Jo
Ann
came
from
Arkansas
and
joined
the
family
for
our
trip
to
the
Outer
Banks.
The
Christmas
photo
was
taken
just
before
the
family
ate
dinner
at
a
restaurant
near
Corolla.
In
the
photo,
from
left
to
right,
are
Momma,
Joe,
Jo
Ann,
Fede
(Jason’s
Son),
Greta,
Angela,
Christina,
and
Jason.
Sarah
was
not
able
to
come
with
us
on
the
trip
since
she
just
started
work
and
she
could
not
get
away.
Sarah,
Fede’s
mother,
completed
her
degree
requirements
for
BS
in
Dental
Hygiene
from
LSU
in
May.
Jason
will
finish
his
degree
requirements
for
BS
in
Computer
Science
in
May
of
next
year.
After
that
he
plans
on
studying
Law.
In
September,
Christina
started
her
freshman
year
at
the
University
of
Virginia
majoring
in
Engineering.
She
has
a
fairly
nice
dorm
room,
but
it
doesn’t
have
a
walk
in
closet
so
it
is
still
being
evaluated.
Angela
started
back
in
her
junior
year
at
JMU.
She
enjoys
her
major
and
is
enjoying
living
in
an
apartment
this
year.
We
are
also
doing
well
with
Yolanda
constantly
keeping
track
of
everyone’s
movements.
If
you
didn’t
know,
Yolanda
is
one
of
the
family’s
dogs.
We
have
another
dog,
Dexie,
but
she
is
on
sabbatical.
Yolanda’s
birthday
was
July
24,
1987,
so
in
the
spirit
of
never
passing
up
a
party
opportunity,
Christina
and
Angela
organized
a
great
birthday
party
for
Yolanda.
25
teenagers
attended
along
with
the
old
fogies.
Yolanda
had
a
birthday
cake
and
ice
cream.
We
have
great
videos.
Some
of
the
young
men
at
the
party
commented
that
their
birthday
parties
were
never
that
good.
Yolanda
promised
that
she
would
help
them
with
their
next
one.
Joe
is
still
operating
out
of
his
company,
EDA,
Inc.,
and
he
just
successfully
completed
a
three-year
job
with
Commonwealth
Edison.
He
is
currently
doing
some
quality
assurance
work
and
some
other
small
jobs
around
Virginia.
It
is
really
nice
to
be
home
during
the
holidays.
Greta
is
working
her
buns
off.
She
was
promoted
to
Managing
Partner
in
October
and
now
she
has
about
40
staff
to
coach
and
manage.
We
have
been
teaching
4th
grade
Sunday
school
for
the
last
three
years.
This
year
the
class
is
about
15
strong.
This
class
is
more
challenging
than
the
previous
two
classes,
but
we
will
eventually,
through
negotiation,
come
to
a
workable
truce.
Seriously,
we
really
love
teaching
that
age
group.
We
have
had
a
great
year
with
God’s
help.
Next
year
we
plan
on
attending
the
2000
Olympics
in
Sydney.
We
have
the
Event
tickets
and
the
plane
tickets,
but
we
don’t
have
hotel
tickets,
yet.
So,
we
may
have
to
sleep
with
the
crocodiles.
We
will
let
you
know
what
happens
next
year.
We
wish
you
and
yours
a
joyous
holiday
and
a
prosperous
2000
