Jerry Patee gave an opening prayer and welcomed the Grace Honduras Mission Home Team to the meeting. Crystal Sarno then read a devotional. Jerry Patee noted that the minutes of the last meeting were sent to everyone via electronic mail.

Jerry Patee updated everyone on the latest news from Honduras Outreach International (HOI) regarding village gardens. Jeannie Patee then made everyone aware of a Grace Church / HOI notebook that is available for everyone to read. It includes, among other things, information about Honduras, information from the last mission trip, and a detailed diary from a past participant.

A discussion on a fund raising campaign to raise the funds to complete the well project (approximately $4,000) and to fund three additional scholarships ($1,800) was lead by Jerry Patee. It was decided that the team would plan to host a dinner at the church on Saturday, February 23, 2002, with a tentative theme of Heart for Mission.

Bob McClelland volunteered to consult with Session to check the guidelines for such a dinner. Kerry Fradley offered be in charge of the music and entertainment and Bob McClelland, Jeannie and Jerry Patee, and Kathy and Jim Drinkard agreed to devise a menu and to approach the Grace Connection cooks to see if they would be willing to volunteer their culinary talents.

Jerry Patee agreed to contact the local Rotary Club and the Honduran Embassy to inquire about a representative being available to attend and give a brief talk at the dinner. In addition, Jerry will contact Lisa Arledge, a scholarship representative from HOI, to invite her to the dinner and to give a brief speech.

Crystal and Doug Sarno and Mirelle Rosera volunteered to be responsible for publicity for the dinner and Kerry Fradley and Beth Ann McClelland will create displays.

The Scholarship program was then discussed. There are currently three students sponsored by Grace at $600 per year. All attendees agreed that a goal should be set to fund three additional scholarships. Bob McClelland and Mary Ellen Davis will approach the youth group and challenge them to raise funds for one of the additional scholarships. Doug Sarno then made a matching gift challenge to the youth group - if the youth group raises $600 to fund one scholarship, then his company will match that $600 to fund a scholarship.

(Charts highlighting responsibilities for the above-mentioned activities are below.)

Our next meeting will be January 13, 2002, at 12:00 in a room to be determined. Stan Dreyer closed the meeting with prayer.
